Personal Branding… I Remember You!

One of the first things that newborn babies recognize is faces, and it is the same as we get older – names are secondary. By self-branding in the online marketing arena, you can get your face out there and become instantly recognizable as an expert in your particular field.

By adding your own little sprinkling of personality to everything you do, people will get comfortable with your persona and are much more likely to buy from you, as a certain amount of trust becomes involved. This is the theory behind Attraction Marketing and it has been proven to work very effectively.

The way to go about personal branding is actually quite easy and the most subtle way to go about self-branding within the network marketing arena is to be yourself. Your potential prospects are only human after all; most of them will be far more interested in you as a person if you don’t talk about your product constantly. What most people want, especially online, is information and help, and if you can become the go-to person for that help and useful information, you have already warmed up your audience without having to crow about “your opportunity” all the time – let’s face it, that gets tedious anyway.

Once people realize you know what you are talking about, they will trust you and look up to you as a leader. Before long they will be recommending you to their friends and asking you about your opportunity, without the need for you to be constantly chasing prospects, they will be chasing you instead, which is exactly what you want.

Sharing your experiences and knowledge with others is certainly a lot more fulfilling than standing on a street corner shouting, “buy this!” You can certainly attract many folks that way but they are not going to trust you as much as if you spend time cultivating a friendship.

When you do anything online with your business, make sure there’s a picture of yourself next to your forum or blog comments. Some niche markets are relatively small and people will notice that your face is showing up in all the right places. By posting useful comments and information, folks will follow you, so wherever you can leave a link do so, through to an attractive and simple landing page with an opt in form.

When people sign up for a newsletter or information, they have given you a valuable thing – their email address  Don’t abuse that privilege. Give your prospects what you promised to deliver – something of use, and on time.

Allow people to know you a little better – and it’s up to you to decide how much they should know about you. You may wish to exclude prospects from joining your personal Facebook page, I think that’s going a little too far, but a Business Profile in Facebook should include some basic interesting facts about you.

Share your knowledge with others, but always reciprocate when you can. By keeping your mind open, you can learn a lot from others, even if it is simply an idea for an article on your website.

There is no mystery to self-branding.
